The Middle East Times spoke with Toufic Laba Sarkis, a Community leader and public speaker who shares his beliefs that there is great benefit for those who work tirelessly for the benefit of human beings and humanity by implementing values and motivation believing in the importance of the quality of our relationships and connectedness with others regardless of religion or race.
The Middle East Times watched the YouTube video of a sensational speech delivered on Australia Day and Republic Day of India on 26 January 2014 in the state of Haryana during the annual celebrations of Dera Sasha Sauda (The True Deal) headed by His Holiness Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan (Guru Ji) who has been since 1990 aiming at serving humanity regardless of their religion.
The principles of Dera Sacha Sauda are motivated by kindness and compassion for humans to live a life of dignity. The most important vision of Dera Sacha Sauda is to call every human being to follow the path that leads to God. Dera Sacha Sauda was originally established by Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj (1948- I960) who proclaimed ‘Dhan Dhan Satguru Tera Hi Asra’, which translates to only God is worth praising and we are solely dependent on Him.
Following from 1960-1990, Shah Satnam Ji Maharaj implemented the practical method of meditation, vegetarianism and expanded ashrams and in recognition of his spiritual guidance and quality of leadership and implementation of the true principles of Dera Sacha Sauda, each year the spiritual organisation celebrates His birthday on 25 January where millions gather in Sirsa, Haryana to celebrate his birthday.
The spiritual institution strongly believes that if we all come to know our Satguru, the Supreme Being, Om, Waheguru, Ram, Parmatma, Allah, God, the Eternal, the Infinite Love, The unmoved moving being all expressions used in the world’s religions being what all people believe in.
The philosophy and vision of the spiritual organisation is that “we are all equal and children of one God” whether we are rich or poor, young or old, Christian, Muslim or Hindu, educated or illiterate, tradesperson or academic, we are all called to love, we are all called to be fully human and to be fully human is to love. The suffering we experience in our world today is the failure to appreciate and know our relationship with our God, our Creator, with others and with self.
If each and every one follows the golden rule which is accepted by all religions, ‘Do unto others as you would like them to do to you’, there would be no crime, no ego, no terrorism, no violence, no war, no religious fanaticism, then people live as God intended them to live and there would be great happiness and harmony in the world.
His Holiness brought constructive changes and created bridges of love and solidarity as he has a big heart, knowledge, dignity in implementing the principles of his predecessors in bringing the light of truth to the mind and heart of the world. His Holiness strongly encourages us to practice and believes that religion and moral virtues cannot be separated and one should regularly develop love for humanity and indulge in welfare activities to assist others.
Spirituality in itself encompasses practical steps on a daily basis. Among the 20 million gathered in Sirsa, Haryana, thousands made the commitment to donate their organs, blood, practice honesty and fairness in our wordly dealings, and live our lives as committed insan, which means one who lives for others, we will build a better world and, indeed, a happy world to relieve the misery of others and to commit to a life of helping others and this is how God intended us to live.
According to the teachings and practical steps of the organisation, His Holiness is calling to practise basic principles of Dera Sacha Sauda, not to indulge in immoral behaviours, to see beauty in the people we meet.
The principles of Dera Sacha Sauda are extremely vital in a world that moves fast where media brings it to our doorstep where technology and internet indeed puts the world on our desk. The Assembly of Dera Sacha Sauda continues to reflect simplicity and truthfulness and adoption of virtues which guide us to be fully human.
As we are called by our very humanity to live with others, to be with others and to grow strongly into healthy, dynamic human beings as we are gifted with intelligence, free will and loving heart which, once implemented in our life, would lead to happiness.
We cannot ignore the wonderful mission of the special welfare team “Shah Satnam Ji Green ‘S’ Welfare Force” which is committed to serve humanity during any disaster anywhere in the world. The inspirational message given to the world is the message of love, generous service of others and total obedience and fidelity to God.
